Review of Genting Malaysia's Poker Room

So as many of you may know, I currently reside in Malaysia. The only place to play legal poker is in Genting Highlands, Malaysia. I drove 1 hour from the city centre of Kuala Lumpur to the hilly mountains of Genting and arrived at the Casino at 4 pm. The casino was jam-packed and it was indeed quite an effort to find the poker room as there are many different casino halls in Genting.

Here's my step-by-step guide to arriving at Genting's poker room. (Bummer, I didn't take any pictures on the way into the casino. Hence, pictures courtesy of Christine Hia, Malaysia's very own poker pro)

Firstly, find your way to Sky Avenue. This should be straightforward enough as you can ask anyone for directions.

Next, locate the escalator that goes straight into the casino.

Then, find another escalator inside and go up to the 3rd floor. Here, you'll find an entrance which requires you to present your Genting card. This room is only for Silver members or better, but if you say that you want to play poker, they will gladly allow you in.

After you're in, walk straight until you see the poker room.

Do note that the games are ante-based so expect a loose game with many players going to the flop.

I played a 5-hour session and made quite the killing. So many whales were new to the game, just there to have a good time. So if you know some poker basics, you should be able to make some money here.

The players are friendly as you'd expect on a loose table. The dealers have improved significantly since the first time I played there before the lockdown. All in all, it was a pleasant experience.

Genting's poker room gets a thumbs up from me, and it is safe to say I will be back!
